ChatGPT image generation limit: separate from chat, capped on every plan
Text chat is unlimited on every ChatGPT plan; images are not. OpenAI confirms a separate image allowance exists on all tiers and does not publish the number. This page explains what is known, how the plans compare and how to stop wasting generations.

It is unpublished
No plan page lists images per day. The pricing page positions Go, Plus and Pro as progressively higher allowances.
It resets on its own clock
The in-app message shows the reset time. Do not assume midnight.
Uploads are separate again
Uploading an image to edit uses the file allowance (20 MB per image, 80 files per three hours, 3 per day on Free).

Decide on the three images you need before starting, not during.
